Memshare ("we", "us", or "our") provides a web and mobile experience for learning Japanese from real media such as YouTube videos and direct media URLs. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using Memshare (including https://app.memshare.site), you agree to this Privacy Policy.

Account information. When you sign up or sign in, we may collect your email address, display name, authentication credentials or tokens, and related account metadata.

Media library content. When you import media, we process information you provide such as YouTube URLs or video identifiers, direct media URLs, titles, tags, cover images, and playback-related metadata.

Generated learning data. To provide the service we may create and store transcripts, sentence timings, furigana/reading aids, translations, and similar derived content associated with your media.

Usage and device data. We may collect technical logs such as IP address, browser or app version, device type, approximate region, timestamps, and error diagnostics needed to operate and secure the service.

Communications. If you contact us, we keep the content of your message and related contact details so we can respond.

We use the information above to:

• provide, maintain, and improve Memshare features (import, transcription, translation, playback, and library management);
• authenticate you and secure accounts;
• process media you submit through third-party processors when needed for transcription or translation;
• diagnose outages, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms of Use;
• communicate service-related notices when necessary.

We do not sell your personal information.

Memshare may rely on infrastructure and AI providers to host data, authenticate users, download or analyze media you request, transcribe speech, and generate translations. Those providers process data only as needed to deliver Memshare features and under their own privacy terms.

If you import YouTube or other third-party content, that platform's terms and privacy practices also apply to your use of their services. Memshare does not control YouTube or other external sites.

We use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and maintain session security. You can clear or block these through your browser or device settings, but some features may stop working.

We retain account and library data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward if needed for backups, legal obligations, dispute resolution, or security. You may request deletion of your account data as described below.

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect information in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Memshare may process and store information on servers located outside your country of residence. Where required, we take appropriate steps to protect transferred data.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

• access or correct personal information we hold about you;
• request deletion of your account or specific library content;
• object to or restrict certain processing;
• export a copy of information you provided.

Memshare is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Memshare after an update means you accept the revised policy.
